What makes anatomical slippers so comfortable?
After a long day, you often want to swap your outdoor shoes for something more comfortable. Socks and conventional slippers sometimes don't provide the right support for your feet – the heel can be uncomfortable or walking doesn't feel right. Does this sound familiar? If so, a comfort slipper with an anatomically shaped footbed could be a pleasant alternative. We explain what characterises these slippers, what features they have and which models from the GIESSWEIN slipper collection might be suitable for you.
WHAT IS AN ANATOMICALLY SHAPED FOOTBED?
The shape of the foot is taken into account when designing this type of footbed. During manufacture, the area of the shoe that comes into contact with the foot is indented and raised – from the toes to the heel – to make the foot position more natural when wearing the shoe and to provide support for the foot at the same time. The foot can experience additional support, particularly in the arch area. This can contribute to a comfortable feeling when wearing the shoe.
FEATURES OF AN ANATOMICALLY SHAPED SLIPPER
1. SUPPORT AT EVERY STEP
The shape of the footbed ensures that the foot rests on a contoured surface. The special design allows for a natural rolling motion, which can influence the walking experience.
2. EFFECT ON POSTURE
The support provided by the footbed causes the foot to adopt a different position. This can affect the position of the foot and leg as well as overall posture.
3. DAMPING PROPERTIES
In addition to the arch of the foot, the heel can also be supported by the anatomical shape, whereby each step is cushioned by the reinforced heel area. A comfort shoe can be pleasant for heels that tend to cause discomfort.
4. STIMULATION OF THE FOOT MUSCLES
The shape of the footbed allows for a different arching of the foot and can put strain on the muscles and tendons in a specific way. At the same time, the toes have room to move naturally. The position of the foot can influence blood circulation. The warming upper material of the slipper keeps the feet at a comfortable temperature.
WHY A SLIPPER WITH AN ANATOMICAL FOOTBED?
Our feet carry us from place to place every day. Whether we spend several hours in the office wearing outdoor shoes or are very active, our feet are under a lot of strain. At home, this strain can be reduced. Walking barefoot (even with socks) can be a pleasant alternative for many, but it puts a different kind of strain on the feet. For different foot shapes, such as flat feet or fallen arches, a slipper with support can be comfortable.
ARCH SUPPORT – WHAT IS IT?
The term ‘arch’ comes from English and describes the arch of the foot. In flat feet and fallen arches, this arch is less pronounced and a larger part of the underside of the foot rests on the ground. This can lead to a lowering of the inner edge of the foot. Arch support in the footbed can help here. The raised areas in the footbed, especially in the arch area, influence the position of the foot when wearing the slippers.
Slippers with an anatomical footbed can therefore provide increased comfort. In addition to their supportive effect, slippers also offer a cosy, warm feeling when worn.
OUR MODELS WITH ANATOMICAL FOOTBED:
COMFORTABLE SLIPPERS VEITSCH FOR EASY SLIPPING INTO
Comfort is an important criterion when designing slippers. Our classic Veitsch model has been part of our range for many years and has been further developed over time. The result is a warm slipper made of fine virgin wool with a stable anatomical footbed. This model can be worn both indoors and in areas close to the home. Thanks to the semi-open design, they are easy to slip on and off, while providing sufficient support for safe walking.

VENT FOR GOOD GRIP
Similar to Veitsch, the Vent slipper also offers a high level of comfort. In addition to the soft upper material, Vent has an anatomical footbed. A special feature is an attached drawstring with a rubber tab that secures the shoe to the foot. Older people and those with limited mobility are likely to appreciate this shoe. In addition to a secure fit, the slipper offers good traction. The non-slip natural rubber sole provides grip even on smooth floor surfaces.

WOOL CLOG - COMFORT WITH STYLE
Our wool clogs also provide support when worn thanks to their shape. The arch of the foot is in an ergonomic position. In addition, the wool clog has a modern design that is also suitable for everyday wear. The cork-latex sole has a cushioning and heat-insulating effect – ideal for cooler months!

These and other comfortable slipper models are available for both women and men. The anatomical shape of these models and the natural rubber sole contribute to a pleasant feeling when wearing them in and around the house. They are designed for different foot shapes.
